New brew blooming! Capital Blossom Blend returns for another season.

Sorry to those of you holding out hope that D.C.'s Cherry Blossoms would peak a bit later this year. It turns out that Mother Nature played the ultimate April Fool's prank with peak bloom happening on March 28th and then drastically reducing by April 1st.

In better news, you can cherish Spring a little longer with the release of our annual Capital Blossom Blend! This blend only comes around one time a year and is an opportunity for our team to literally get our creative juices flowing by developing a blend inspired by whatever fresh crops we have available to us at the time.

Capital Blossom blend

This year we landed on a delicious blend of beans from Colombia and Brazil. Despite both beans come from South America, each component brings something different to the table. The Colombian coffee is roasted just on the light side of medium to enhance its natural sweetness and bring forward notes of citrus and fig. Hailing from the Santa Maria region of Colombia, this coffee has become an instant staff favorite and is the feature single origin in April's Coffee Recon Subscription.

The other half of Capital Blossom is our tried and true Brazil. A naturally processed bean that we source from Royal NY and use as a backbone to many of our blends. This bean is incredibly clean and smooth and brings a rich nut sweetness to the blend to round out some of the citrus tones in the Colombia. The result? A balance cup with notes of butterscotch, dried fruit, and sweet hazelnut that will leave you wanting a second cup (or pot) every time.

As a bonus, this blend is also packaged in a beautiful bag that was inspired by our Nation's Capital and designed in collaboration with artist Jeff Guinn, who grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, is a graduate of James Madison University, and part owner of The Mark-It, a print shop in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

So hang onto that Spring feeling as long as possible by picking up a bag and relish in the sweet taste of the season, without the pollen!
